Why RAISE Literacy?

RAISE Literacy, Inc. was established to distribute books internationally; primarily with a focus on delivering books to childcare sites in Jamaica (the founder's native homeland). The founder is an advocate for early learning and care and has dedicated over 22 years in the field of early education and whose commitment is to support literacy efforts not only in the US but internationally (Jamaica). The work involves supporting and empowering educators, childcare sites and providers, families, and community leaders to establish and strengthen strong foundations that foster children’s overall growth and development. 

In Jamaica, there is an undeniable need for increased early literacy engagement which is a precursor for reading, effective communication, and future educational success. To introduce and encourage the habit of reading to children at an early age, children must first have access to books. RAISE Literacy was established to be part of the movement and journey towards transformative change.
